Online Environmental Education and Environmental Service Certificate Program

x13769SCalifornia State University at Monterey Bay (CSUMB), in collaboration with Monterey Bay area environmental and science organizations, is offering a NEW 10 CEU credit, Continuing Education Unit, Certificate Program in Environmental Education and Environmental Service for area educators.

Enjoy fun and educational workshops built around California’s educational standards! Each hands-on and experiential workshop will leave you fired up and ready to use ideas and materials that will spark student interest in science, social studies, mathematics, geography, language arts and other subjects. Participants will follow an individualized 2-year learning program that provides the tools for weaving together many academic subject areas using the environment as a tool.

The EE/ES Certificates’ credit bearing workshops will be offered by local Monterey Bay Organizations such as the Watershed Institute of CSUMB, Friends of Moss Landing Marine Laboratories, Camp Sea Lab, or the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary among others.

Outcomes based program focusing on:

  • Technology Integration (1 CEU)
  • Multicultural Connections (I CEU)
  • Environmental Service (1 CEU)
  • Standards Integration (2 CEUs)
  • Environmental Pedagogy (4 CEUs)
  • Partnering and Fundraising (1 CEU)

Workshops will be offered on weekends, some evenings, and during the summer.


1 CEU will be awarded for every 10 hours of participation. Tuition fees vary by course – please refer to the course schedule on the University’s website http://extended.csumb.edu/faq.htm#how_much_tuition .

Each participant will develop an individual Learning plan in the programs’ Premier Seminar and will present student work and Experiences as in a Final Sharing Seminar.
