- To raise the professional standards of those engaged in carbon reduction
- To improve the practice of carbon reduction by encouraging energy business professionals in a continuing education program of professional development
- To identify persons with acceptable knowledge of the principles practices of carbon reduction professionals through completing an examination and fulfilling prescribed standards of performance and conduct
- To award special recognition to those individuals who have demonstrated a high level of competence and ethical fitness for carbon reduction
Eligibility
The prerequisites to qualify for the certification process have been designed to take into account the possible diversity of education and practical experience an individual may have. However each CRM candidate must meet the following criteria:
- A four-year Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Business or related field of study OR current Certified Energy Manager (CEM) in good standing
- Receipt of a passing score on the CRM examination
Examination and Training Requirement
All CRM candidates must attend AEE’s Certified Carbon Reduction Manager four-day training program and complete and pass a four-hour written examination. Examination questions are based on concepts such as:
- Codes and Standards
- Carbon Audit
- Emissions Reporting/Verification
- Emissions Conversions
- Energy Efficiency Technologies
- Renewable Energy Sources and Green Power
- Fleet Management
- Emissions Trading
- Recycling and Water
- Financing and Marketing
