Energy Conservation Competition – Is Your School Up For the Challenge?

A little competition never hurt anyone, the saying goes.  In fact, in this case, a little competition benefited all competitors.  The 45 Public Schools in Durham, North Carolina held a competition amongst themselves to see who could conserve the most energy.

The Public School Board awarded first prize to Bethesda Elementary School, which resulted in a cash infusion of $2,000 to the school.  In total, more than $100,000 in energy costs was saved over a one year period.

On this day of Thanksgiving, do you have a similar story to share from your area?  Please let us know of innovative ideas being used in your, or your children’s, learning environment!  We will share these with the world on our website!
