China’s First 10-MW Solar PV Station Goes Operational

BEIJING, Oct 12, 2009 (Press Release) — The China Energy Conservation Investment Corporation recently witnessed the grid-connection of its first 10- MW solar photovoltaic (PV) power station in Shizuishan, in northwest C hina’s Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

The solar PV station serves as the first phase of a 50-MW program a nd has acreage of 2 square kilometers.

The whole solar PV project will be completed by 2011 in three phase s. China-based solar module maker Suntech Power Holdings (STP.NYSE) provi ded the solar panels for the project.

The state-owned China Energy Conservation Investment Corporation ha s on paper more than 1400 MW of solar power capacity, including projec ts under construction or with agreement concluded.
